Ranking of European Business Schools - Financial Times 2024

Ranking of European Business Schools - Financial Times 2024

In the latest edition of the ranking of European business schools, published by the Financial Times, the top spots are occupied by universities from France, the UK and Spain. At the top of the list is INSEAD followed closely by HEC Paris, then London Business School and IESE. The ranking, the 21st edition of the annual list, underscores the dominance of French, British and Spanish institutions in business education in Europe.

INSEAD ranked first in this year's list (18th in 2023), moving up 18 places in one year and ahead of previous leaders HEC Paris (1st in 2023) and London Business School (2nd in 2023), which ranked third. Overall, as many as 5 universities from France were ranked in the top 10. Among the top of the list there are also 2 universities from Spain and one each from the UK, Italy and Switzerland.

The FT ranking takes into account results in other lists published this year, i.e. MBA, Executive MBA (EMBA), Masters in Management (MiM), as well as open and non-standard executive programs. A total of 100 schools were included in the ranking, demonstrating the strength and diversity of European business education institutions.

Despite steadily declining enrolment in postgraduate business courses in Europe, according to a Global Management Admission Council survey, European business schools continue to attract students thanks to their host cities' quality of life and relatively low fees. Europe is also playing a pioneering role in graduate management education. The main types of management degree programs offered by universities from Europe are graduate and postgraduate programs in management. These studies focus on international business and sustainable development.

There have been changes in business education, such as an increase in hybrid and online classes and a growing demand for programs related to social goals and technology. However, salaries for graduates of European business schools remain lower than in North America and Asia-Pacific.

The ranking also considers gender equality among faculty, where only four universities achieved parity. Switzerland's IMD stands out for having the highest percentage of non-national lecturers, while the University of Porto's FEP | PBS has the lowest.
The FT ranking also includes joint international programs and schools with multiple campuses, such as ESCP with a presence in several countries. The rating also considers non-standard and open executive education programs.
France has the most ranked universities, followed by the UK, Germany, Spain and Portugal. Other European countries are also represented, demonstrating the diversity and breadth of European business education.

Results of business schools from Poland

One university from Poland was classified in the ranking - Leon Kozminski Academy (ALK) from Warsaw, which was ranked 38th (40th in 2023). The university advanced by 2 positions compared to last year's ranking. The university was ranked in 4 of the 5 rankings that are included in the list of European business schools. It is worth noting that ALK is the only university from Poland that has been regularly listed in the Financial Times rankings for many years.
We sincerely congratulate the universities on their results.
