VIII International MBA Congres 2012

The 8th edition of the Congress of MBAs - international meeting organized by the Cracow School of Business University of Economics in Cracow - was held between May, 18-20th 2012. Nearly 200 participants discussed the folowing topics: Asian issues, energy, innovation and management.

On the first day, 18.05.2012, participants had the opportunity to take part in Study Visits of such companies as: Kompania Piwowarska SA, Silgan White Cap Europe, Coca-Cola, Nokia Siemens Networks, Krakow Technology Park. The main topic of the first presentation was as follows: “Confucianism. Where Asian tigers come from?”. The panel was attended by Mrs. Joanna Wardega - Confucius Institute in Krakow, Mrs. Monika Halupczak - Registry Yingke Poland, Bartkowiak Wojciechowski Halupczak Springer, Krzysztof Ingarden - Honorary Consul of Japan, the owner Ingarden & Ewy Architects, Mr. Prodipe Bhowal - Head Performance Management Arcelor Mittal Poland SA. The panel was moderated by Mrs. Alice Zaccur - Graduate MBA - expert in market risk management and financial management.

The second day of the session started with a workshop on "Mandarin Business - First Steps" led by a representative of the Confucius Institute in Krakow.

Participants of the second panel focused in the energy issues, called: “Between a carbon and atom”, were as follows: Mr. Waldemar Chowaniec - Director of Corporate Strategy Kompanii Weglowej S.A, Professor. Dr. Eng. Marek Sciazko - Director of the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal, Mr. Stanislaw Tokarski - President Tauron Wytwarzanie S.A.. The panel was moderated by Mr. Edward Czarzasty - graduate MBA - Vice President ELBIS Sp. z o.o.

In the management panel, called: “Art of Depression - Veni, vidi, vici”, took part Mr. Leszek Mierzwa - General Manager of the Group and Investor Relations, KGHM, Mr. Leszek Gawel - National Key Accounts Group Manager, Coca Cola, Mrs. S. Bronkhorst - M. Com in Business Management University of Johannesburg, Mr. Marek Rajca - General Manager, Plant Manager, Silgan White Cap Poland Sp. of o.o. The panel was moderated by Dr. Krzysztof Misiolek from the Department of Strategy Management and Organization Development at the University of Economics in Krakow.

The final panel -“Innovation – how to do a business of it?” was attended by Mr. Jerzy Foryciarz - Product Manager, Google, Mr. Krzysztof Krzysztofiak - Director of Business Development Krakow Technology Park, Mr. Krzysztof Kwiatkowski - Comarch SA. Discussion was moderated by Mr. Sebastian Jakubiak - Member of S & T Service, who gathered a lot of positive feedback after the discussion.

The Congress was accompanied by numerous additional events: Friday Gala Dinner in the restaurant "Pod Roza", combined with a charity auction for the Association, "SPRING", Saturday Evening MBA "We support young talents - Igor Marinow" organized in music club “Opium” in Kazimierz, and Sunday family golf tournament.
The next edition of the Congress will be held in 2013, 17 – 19th May.
