Top universities and faculties for economics in Poland according to "Rzeczpospolita" Ranking

In this year's 3rd edition of the Polish economics universities and faculties ranking prepared by the "Rzeczpospolita" daily, the Warsaw School of Economics, three times in a row, has turned out to be the best one among the Polish universities for economics, whereas the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw (the winner of 2016) is the best economics faculty in Poland. The list includes six universities and 28 faculties that are entitled to conduct full three-level studies for economics.

"Rzeczpospolita" Ranking Methodology

The list of top universities and economic faculties in Poland was created with the support of the National Information Processing Institute (OPI PIB), which has developed and runs the Pol-on database on the science and higher education system.  All universities and faculties taking part in this ranking are compared on the basis of the results obtained in the following four criteria: graduates' career (this year it is 40%, whereas last year it was 30%), quality of the programme (this year - 25%, and 35% a year ago), scientific potential and international faculty (the weights of these two criteria are the same as last year).

"Rzeczpospolita" Ranking Results

As mentioned earlier, the Warsaw School of Economics, three times in a row, has turned out to be the best one among the Polish universities for economics (the winner in three of four criteria, including graduates' career). Like in the previous two editions, in this year’s ranking the Kozminski University is also ranked second and the University of Economics in Poznan - third.
As far as the economics faculties ranking is concerned, its lead has changed due to some changes introduced into the weights assigned to certain criteria. This year, the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw (the winner in the criterion of quality of the programme) is in the first place. And in the remaining medal standings, there are respectively as follows: the Faculty of Management and Social Communication of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and the Faculty of Applied Sciences at WSB University in Dabrowa Górnicza.

Conclusions

It is worth emphasizing that in line with the trend set by international rankings, including the Financial Times one, this year's edition of the “Rzeczpospolita” ranking was affected by the graduates’ career criterion in particular, while the quality of the programme was the second most important category.
The results of the ranking show that immediately after graduating from such programmes as economic law analysis, quantitative methods and information systems, finances or accounting, alumni can easily find a job, and their gross salary can amount to about 7,000 zlotys in the first year after graduation. In addition, the authors of the list also appreciated the quality of the programme, which translated into the order of the ranking of faculties for economics.
